1 Discover Attack

Explanation:

Here, in the below set of puzzles, we will try to use discover attack concept to win materials

Example Puzzle:

Here, in the above puzzle, Black can play pawn to D3 attacking the white queen on e2 and the black queen on f6 attacking the white bishop on b2.

D3 Qd3 Qb2 wins or D3 Bf6 De2 Re1 Gf6 Wins

2 Practice Puzzles

Instructions:
Try to solve the puzzles without moving the pieces.
Write down your solutions before checking the solution at the bottom

Puzzle Set:

  • Puzzle 1: White to move and win

Ng6 attacks the black rook on F8 and White bishop on F4 attacks the black queen on C7.

Ng6 Qd8 Nf8 wins
  • Puzzle 2: Black to move and win

Bg1 gives a checkmate threat on H2 and the Black rook on D7 attacks the White queen on D3.

Bg1 Qd7 Qh2# or Bg1 Kg1 Rd3 wins the queen
  • Puzzle 3: Black to move and win

Re1 Kf2 Ne4 discover attack and wins the white queen on G6.

Re1 Kf2 Ne4 Qe4 Qe4 wins or Re1 Kf2 Ne4 Ke1 Qg6 wins
  • Puzzle 4: White to move and win

Bg8 give a checkmate threat on H7 and attacks the black rook on D8.
