Explanation:

Here, in the below set of puzzles, we will use X-Ray tactic to win the game.

In X-Ray attack, You attack or defend your piece through your opponent’s pieces

Example Puzzle: (White to Play)

Here, in the above puzzle, White can play Qe8 check forcing black Rook to play Re8 and then White can play Re8 to do a back rank mate

2 Practice Puzzles

Instructions:
Try to solve the puzzles without moving the pieces.
Write down your solutions before checking the solution at the bottom

Puzzle Set:

  • Puzzle 1: Black to move and use X-ray tactic to mate in one

Be7#. It gives a check and supports the H4 rook via the white king

Puzzle 2: White to move and use X-Ray tactic to win

Re7 wins the bishop; Here, the white rook on e7 is supported by the white queen on A3 via the black queen on D6

  • Puzzle 3: White to move and use X-Ray tactic to Mate in one
