Deflection is a form of luring where you make a piece move away from controlling an important square or defending an important piece.
Example Puzzle:

Here, in the above puzzle, White can play Bd5 forcing black rook to capture the bishop and then white can play Rh8 and followed by Rd8 to deliver a checkmate.
