1️⃣ Open File 2

Explanation:

Here, you will be controlling the open file with your rooks and queen as it can allow you to enter the enemy’s territory and will help you to enter the 7th rank.

Example Puzzle:

Black to Play

Here, in the above puzzle, White is strongly controlling the open C file. However, Black can play Ba3 forcing white rook on c1 to move away and then black can play Rc8 to gain equal access to the open file.

Ba3 Rb1 Rc8 (Black get equal access to the open file)

2️⃣ Practice Puzzles

Instructions:
Try to solve the puzzles without moving the pieces.
Write down your solutions before checking the solution at the bottom

3️⃣ Solutions

1. Rf1 Rf8 Rg1 gets the open G file for white; Rf1 Rg7 H6 black losses a pawn

2. Rf7 Rac1 Rfc7 gives black the control on C file with two rooks

3. Bh3 stopping the black rook coming to C8 and now white can play Rac1 next and gain full control on the open C file.

4. Rbd8 Rad1 Rf1 Rf1 Rd2 (Black gets the open D file and enters into the 7th row)
